With 2-step verification, you can set up Gmail to require a special code for login in addition to your password.
- Click your name or photo in the top Gmail navigation bar.
- Select My Account from the menu that comes up.
- select Settings,
- go to the Sign-in and SecurityUnder Password & sign-in method Select ‘2-step verification
Even if someone manages to guess your password, they won’t be able to log in to your account without a verification code that is sent to your phone.
In the example below, the gmail account of a Dublin user was access by a user in South Africa. 2-step verification prevents such an attack.
